Dehydration is considered one of the common causes of bad breath that is why drinking the right amount of water each day is an effective way of eliminating bacteria caused by accumulating food particles in your mouth and washing away the loose food particles to which tiny microbes on the mouth feed on.

A chronic dry mouth due to little intake of water plays a very vital role in causing bad breath. Dry mouth may be due to the decomposition of dead cells also in the tongue which results in bad odor. Saliva can also serve as a means of fighting the odor causing bacteria but to generate saliva one has to drink lots of clean and fluoride less water through the entire day.

Other natural ways to treat bad breath include taking zinc supplements and the use of herbs daily.

Take mineral supplements

The mineral zinc is know to be antimicrobial which aids in the neutralization of harmful germs including those that accumulate in the mouth. Zinc is even included in mouthwash which makes this solution effective in killing mouth bacteria. Foods with lots of zinc are cacao, organ meats, pumpkin and gourd seeds.
